Troubleshooting, system status and removing Xagio
This guide covers the plugin’s own repair tools on Xagio > Xagio Settings: Fix Common Issues for a site the panel shows as disconnected, the Troubleshooting switches, the System Status report, and what happens when you deactivate, disconnect or uninstall the plugin.
Fix a site that shows as disconnected
Section titled “Fix a site that shows as disconnected”Sometimes the Xagio panel shows a site as disconnected, or says the plugin is deactivated, while the plugin is installed and active in WordPress. Fix Common Issues re-syncs the keys between the plugin and the panel and usually clears this.
Before you start:
- You need a WordPress user with the Administrator role.
- The plugin must still hold your account connection. The Server Fixes button only shows when the plugin is connected. If the Dashboard asks you to connect, follow Install and connect the Xagio plugin instead.
Run Fix Common Issues
Section titled “Run Fix Common Issues”- In WordPress, go to Xagio > Xagio Settings.
- Open the Troubleshooting tab.
- Under Server Fixes, select Fix Common Issues.
- Wait for the confirmation message, then reload the site in the Xagio panel.
What Fix Common Issues does:
- Fetches the site’s API keys from the panel again.
- Fetches your shared scripts from the panel again.
- Re-checks your account connection with the panel.
- Rebuilds Xagio’s database tables if any are missing.
- Releases keywords stuck in the “queued” state, so volume, CPC and competition checks can run again.
It does not change your SEO settings, pages or posts.
If the site is still disconnected
Section titled “If the site is still disconnected”- Go to Xagio > Dashboard and check that it shows Your Account is Connected with the right account email.
- Check that your server meets the requirements on the Dashboard. A missing cURL or OpenSSL extension, or blocked outgoing requests, stops the plugin from reaching the panel. See Check the server requirements.
- Check Force Disable Maintenance Mode on the Troubleshooting tab if your host leaves WordPress in maintenance mode after updates. See Troubleshooting tools.
- As a last step, disconnect the account from the Dashboard (the disconnect icon next to Dashboard at the top) and connect it again. The warning says: “No SEO settings will be lost, and you can re-activate at anytime”.
Troubleshooting tools
Section titled “Troubleshooting tools”The Troubleshooting tab has a few switches for problems that come from your host or your own scripts, plus Fix Common Issues (above).
- In WordPress, go to Xagio > Xagio Settings.
- Open the Troubleshooting tab.
Each switch under Local Fixes saves when you change it.
| Setting | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Disable Scripts while Logged In | Stops Xagio’s Header, Body and Footer scripts (global and page-level) from loading while you are logged in as an administrator. Visitors still get them. | Keep your own visits out of analytics, or stop a broken script from getting in your way while you edit. |
| Force Disable Maintenance Mode | Deletes WordPress’s .maintenance file whenever it appears, which takes the site out of maintenance mode. |
Some hosts leave the site stuck in maintenance mode after updates, which breaks communication with the Xagio panel. |
System Status
Section titled “System Status”The System Status tab is a read-only list of your Xagio, WordPress and server details. Check it when a feature misbehaves, and include it when you contact support.
- In WordPress, go to Xagio > Xagio Settings.
- Open the System Status tab.
Xagio Variables

Deactivate Xagio and remove its data
Section titled “Deactivate Xagio and remove its data”When you deactivate the Xagio plugin, WordPress asks what to keep. You can deactivate and keep everything, disconnect the site from your account, or wipe Xagio’s data from the site.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins.
- Under Xagio, select Deactivate. The Deactivate Xagio window opens.
- Tick any of the options below, or none.
- Select Deactivate. Select Cancel to keep the plugin active.

| Remove Data from this Website | Deletes Xagio’s database tables and every Xagio setting on this site. |

Disconnect without deactivating
Section titled “Disconnect without deactivating”To keep the plugin running but unlink it from your account:
- Go to Xagio > Dashboard.
- Select the disconnect icon (Disconnect Account) at the top.
- Confirm the warning: “You are about to disconnect your Xagio account from this website. No SEO settings will be lost, and you can re-activate at anytime”.
Features that work without an account keep working: SEO meta, schema output, sitemaps, robots.txt, LLMs.txt, redirects, Link Manager, Reviews, Silo Builder, local backups and Rescue Center. Features that use your account (Project Planner data, Niche Hunter, Agent X, AI) stop until you connect again.
Uninstall
Section titled “Uninstall”Deleting the plugin from Plugins (after deactivating) removes Xagio’s database tables and the RingRobin integration settings.
