Prepare a new site: WP Easy Set-Up and templates

On a new WordPress site, run WP Easy Set-Up first to remove default content and create the standard pages, then install a Xagio template from the Templates tab. Both screens are under Xagio > Xagio Settings.

WP Easy Set-Up cleans out a new WordPress install and sets up the basics in one run: it removes default content, sets permalinks, quiets comment emails, creates standard legal and info pages, and installs plugins and themes from wordpress.org. Use it on a new site, before you build anything.

  1. In WordPress, go to Xagio > Xagio Settings.
  2. Open the WP Easy Set-Up tab.
  3. Tick the options you want (see the lists below).
  4. Select Run Easy WP Setup.
  5. Read the Are you sure? list. It names everything the run will do.
  6. Confirm. When it finishes you see “Operation completed.”

If you select Run Easy WP Setup with nothing ticked, you see “Nothing selected!”.

  • Remove ALL Pages: deletes every page.
  • Remove ALL Posts: deletes every post.
  • Remove default Themes: deletes the Twenty Fifteen and Twenty Sixteen themes.
  • Remove default Plugins: deactivates and deletes Akismet and Hello Dolly.
  • Set permalink structure to Post Name: sets permalinks to /page-name/.
  • Remove all Comments: deletes every existing comment.
  • Disable new comments notifications: stops emails when someone comments.
  • Disable comments moderation notifications: stops emails about comments waiting for moderation.

Each of these creates one published, empty page with that title:

  • Create About Us page
  • Create Privacy Policy page
  • Create Terms of Use page
  • Create Earnings Disclaimer page
  • Create Contact Us page
  • Create Amazon Associate Disclose page (creates “Amazon Associates Disclosure”)
  • Create Affiliate Disclose page (creates “Affiliate Disclosure”)
  • Create Copyright Notice page
  • Create Anti Spam Policy page
  • Create Medical Disclaimer page

The pages are created empty. Write the content yourself before you publish the site.

Create Multiple Categories, Create Multiple Pages and Create Multiple Posts let you type names (five fields to start; use Add and Remove for more or fewer). Each name becomes a category, a published blank page, or a published blank post.

Type to search wordpress.org, then pick the plugins and themes to install. Only plugins and themes from the wordpress.org directory can be installed here.

The run does not undo. To roll back, restore the backup you made before you started, from Xagio > Backup & Restore.

The Templates tab lets you browse the Xagio template library, preview a design, claim it and install it on the current site without leaving WordPress. Templates come in an Elementor version, a Gutenberg version, or both.

Before you start:

  • The plugin must be connected to your Xagio account. Claiming a template uses your account.
  • A claim uses a template credit, not Xags. To see how template credits work, read Claim and install templates.
  1. In WordPress, go to Xagio > Xagio Settings.
  2. Open the Templates tab.
  3. Type in Search Templates… to filter by name, or page through the library (12 templates per page).

Each card shows the template’s screenshot, its name and badges for the versions it has (Elementor, Gutenberg). Select the magnifier icon to preview it in a new tab.

Templates you have not claimed yet show a Claim button.

  1. Select Claim on the template.
  2. When you see “Template claimed successfully!”, the button changes to Select.

If the claim fails, the message from your account explains why (for example, no template credits left).

  1. Select Select on a claimed template.
  2. Pick Install Elementor Version or Install Gutenberg Version. You only see the versions the template has.
  3. Read the warning and confirm:
    • Elementor: “Are you sure you want to install this template? It will overwrite your existing active Elementor Template!”
    • Gutenberg: “Are you sure you want to install this template? It will overwrite your existing active Gutenberg content!”
  4. Wait while the plugin checks requirements, downloads the template and imports it. Progress shows under the template list. A Gutenberg install ends with “Kadence import completed successfully.”

What the plugin installs for you:

  • Elementor version: installs and activates Elementor if it is missing.
  • Gutenberg version: installs and activates the Kadence Blocks plugin if it is missing. If you install a Gutenberg version of a template you have not claimed yet, the plugin claims it first.
  • A plugin or theme did not install (WP Easy Set-Up). The run reports an error for each plugin or theme it could not download or install. Check the name on wordpress.org and that your server can make outgoing requests, then install it from Plugins > Add New Plugin.
  • Pages show 404 after the run. Go to Settings > Permalinks in WordPress and select Save Changes to refresh the rewrite rules.
  • “Your account is not connected.” Connect the plugin to your account first. See Install and connect the Xagio plugin.
  • “Template claim failed.” The claim did not go through. Check your template credits in the panel.
  • “Insufficient permissions to install plugins.” Your WordPress user cannot install plugins. Log in as an Administrator.
  • “Kadence Blocks installation failed: …” or “Elementor free installation failed: …” WordPress could not install the required plugin. Install it from Plugins > Add New Plugin, then install the template again.
  • “Failed to fetch template ZIP in browser.” The download did not finish. Check your connection and try again.
