Track rankings for a Studio site

Once your Studio site is live, Studio can add its planned keywords to Xagio’s Rank Tracker for your domain. Rankings then show in Rank Tracker in the Xagio panel like any other tracked site.

Before you start

The site must be published and live on its domain. Studio only offers rank tracking after the publish finishes.

Start tracking

You get two chances to start:

At the end of your first publish, the window moves on to rank tracking by itself. (If you reopen the window later, it shows Final Step: with a Track Rankings button.)
Any time later, click Track Rankings in the site editor’s top bar.

Then:

Studio shows Your site is live. Want us to track where it ranks on Google? and your domain (it can’t be changed here).
Under Keywords to track, tick the keywords you want. Use Select all or Clear. Each keyword shows its monthly searches. Keywords already in Rank Tracker show Already tracked and can’t be ticked again.
Optional: open Search settings to change where and how deep Studio looks (see below).
Check the cost line under the list, then click Start Tracking. Click Skip to leave without tracking.

Studio confirms it is adding the keywords. First results usually appear within a day. You can close the window.

Search settings

Search engine: defaults to Google for your country.
Country (optional) and Location (optional): pick a city for local rankings. Leave Location empty to check rankings country-wide.
How deep to look: Page 1 (top 10), Pages 1-2 (top 20), Pages 1-5 (top 50) or Pages 1-10 (top 100).
Also update this project’s location: appears only if you pick a location different from the project’s. Leave it off to track the new location without changing the project. The project’s keyword research isn’t redone either way.

Tracking is desktop rankings.

What it costs

Rank Tracker charges these in Xags:

0.03 Xags per keyword when it is added.
0.003 Xags per keyword for every rank check, at any depth.

The cost line shows both totals before you start, for example “10 keywords, 0.3 XAGS now, 0.03 XAGS per check”. See What every action costs.

See your rankings

Once every planned keyword is tracked, the editor button changes from Track Rankings to View Rankings. It opens Rank Tracker in the Xagio panel, filtered to your domain. To change schedules, remove keywords or share reports, use Rank Tracker. See Add and remove tracked keywords.

Troubleshooting

“You don’t have enough XAGS to start tracking these keywords.” Add Xags, then try again.
“None of these keywords can be tracked. See the reason beside each one.” Each keyword shows why. These keywords can’t be added.
“That’s more keywords than we can track in one go (500 maximum).” Select fewer keywords and add the rest in another round.
“We couldn’t match that location. Pick another one and try again.” Choose a location from the suggestions.
“Google isn’t available for that country, so we can’t track rankings there.” Pick a different country.
“Your keywords are being tracked, but the first rank check couldn’t start. It’ll be picked up automatically.” Nothing to do. The keywords are added.
“Your account is busy with another charge. Try again in a moment.” Wait a moment and try again.
“This site isn’t live yet. Publish it first, then we can track its rankings.” Finish publishing first.
