Download your site as a ZIP
You can download any built Studio site as a ZIP file of plain HTML pages and images. Use it to host the site somewhere else, or to keep your own copy before you archive or delete the project.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”The site must be built. You can download a project while it is active, archived, or deleted but still inside its 60-day recovery window.
Download the site
Section titled “Download the site”- Open the site in the editor.
- Click the More actions button (…) at the top right, then Download.
- The Download site window explains that the ZIP includes all pages and media. If some pages don’t have structured data (schema) yet, choose whether to generate it (see below).
- If the project has no domain yet, Studio asks for one under Site domain. Enter the domain the site will live on, for example
yourbusiness.com, and click Download with domain. Otherwise click Download. - Studio generates any structured data first (it counts the pages as it goes), then shows Preparing your download… and saves the ZIP.
The domain is needed because the sitemap, robots.txt and structured data must use your real address.
What’s in the ZIP
Section titled “What’s in the ZIP”index.html: your home page- one folder per page, each with its own
index.html, so page addresses stay clean assets/: your images (plusfonts/and any default brand images the pages use)sitemap.xmlandrobots.txtREADME.txt: what the files are and how to host them
Links between pages and to images are relative, so the site also works if you open index.html straight from your computer.
Structured data
Section titled “Structured data”Pages that already have structured data keep it, at no cost. For pages that don’t, the window shows the count and an estimate, with Generate structured data for the remaining pages ticked. Untick it to download without it; those pages go out without structured data.
After downloading
Section titled “After downloading”Studio offers to archive the project: “Since you have your own copy, you can archive this project to free a plan slot.” Click Archive to free a slot, or close the banner. Archiving keeps everything and you can bring the project back later. Downloading on its own does not free a slot.
What it costs
Section titled “What it costs”Downloading is free. Structured data for pages that don’t have it is charged per page. See What a Studio project costs.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- “Enter the domain this site will live on, so the sitemap, robots.txt and structured data use your real URL.” Type your domain under Site domain and click Download with domain.
- “Structured data could not be generated.” Untick the structured data option to download without it, or try again.
- “Download failed. Try again.” Try again.
