How Xags work: xRenew vs xBanks and spend order
Xags are the credits you spend on paid actions in Xagio, such as keyword data, rank checks, AI content and hosting. There are two kinds: xRenew, which comes with your plan, and xBanks, which never expire.
The two kinds of Xags

Section titled “xRenew”xRenew are the Xags your plan adds at the start of each billing period. A monthly plan adds one month’s worth every month, a quarterly plan adds three months’ worth every quarter, and an annual plan adds twelve months’ worth every year.
Unused xRenew roll over to the next period while your subscription keeps paying. If you move to a smaller plan or a shorter billing period, you lose the rolled-over xRenew. See What happens to Xags when you upgrade, downgrade or cancel.
xBanks
Section titled “xBanks”xBanks are Xags that never expire. You get them by:
- Buying them in the Xagio Store. See Buying more Xags.
- Signing up (the free plan adds 3 xBanks once).
- Earning referral rewards. See Referral program.
Plan changes never touch your xBanks.
Where to see your balance
Section titled “Where to see your balance”- Top bar of the panel: two counters show your current xRenew and xBanks.

- WordPress plugin: every paid screen shows your xRenew and xBank balances in its header.
The order Xags are spent in
Section titled “The order Xags are spent in”When an action costs Xags, Xagio takes them in this order:
- xRenew first.
- xBanks next. Within your xBanks, Xags you earned or were given are spent before Xags you bought.
If an action costs more than your remaining xRenew, Xagio takes what is left of your xRenew and the rest from your xBanks.
Who can spend xBanks
Section titled “Who can spend xBanks”Every plan, including the free plan, can spend its whole xBank balance on any feature.
If your account is suspended (for example, during a pause or after a failed payment) or a payment was refunded, you can spend xBanks only. Your xRenew is not available until the account is active again.
One exception: publishing a site from Xagio Studio needs an xRenew balance above 0, because hosting is billed in Xags. An account that holds only xBanks cannot publish from Studio.
When you don’t have enough Xags
Section titled “When you don’t have enough Xags”If your balance can’t cover an action, Xagio stops before charging you and shows a message. The wording depends on the screen, for example “You don’t have enough XAGS to continue with this operation.”
Some lookups check your balance first and only charge when data comes back, such as Niche Hunter and site audits. Others charge when you start them, such as search volume, competition and adding keywords to Rank Tracker.
Scheduled rank checks are skipped, and not charged, when your balance is too low.
