Tracking period, depth, engine and location

Each tracked site has its own settings: how often its keywords are checked, how many pages of results are read, and the search engine, country and city used. You change them from the site’s row in Rank Tracker.

Change the tracking period

The button next to the site shows the current period, for example 2d for every 2 days.

Select the period button for the site.
In Check every … days, enter a number from 1 to 15.
Select Continue.

The new period applies to every keyword on that site.

How the smart schedule adjusts checks

Your tracking period is the fastest a keyword is checked. Rank Tracker can check a keyword less often than that, never more often:

Main keywords (starred) are checked on your tracking period, even daily. Other keywords are checked at most every 48 hours.
A keyword not found in the results for 30 days is checked weekly.
A keyword that has never ranked after 90 days, or was last found more than 180 days ago, is checked monthly. Main keywords never drop below weekly.
A keyword that was not found in its last 2 checks in a row is checked weekly.
A keyword that showed in your Google Search Console data in the last 7 days is checked weekly.

As soon as a keyword is found again, it goes back to your tracking period. Because of this, Next Check can be later than your period suggests. Check now ignores the schedule. See Check rankings now and main keywords.

Change the depth

Depth is how many pages of search results Xagio reads to find the site. If the site is not found within that depth, the keyword shows as not ranked.

Open the Depth list for the site.
Pick the number of pages.
Confirm.

A rank check costs the same at any depth.

You can pick from 1 to 5 pages (up to 50 results). Checks never read more than 50 results, including Check now.

Change the search engine and location

Open Actions next to the site and select Default settings.
Pick the Search Engine, Country and, if needed, Location.
To apply these to the keywords you already track, turn on Also update settings to all current terms you’re tracking. Leave it off to use them only for keywords you add from now on.
Select Set.

What it costs

Changing settings is free. Shorter periods mean more checks: each check costs 0.003 Xags per keyword, so daily tracking is about 0.09 Xags per keyword per month. Troubleshooting

“Tracking period cannot be empty!” Enter a number of days before you continue.
“Something went wrong!” The period must be a whole number from 1 to 15.
“Please select search engine!” Pick at least one search engine in Default settings.
