Check indexing, mobile and Web Vitals
The Technical section in the left menu covers indexing, devices and page speed.
Indexing
Section titled “Indexing”Indexing compares the URLs in your submitted sitemaps with the pages that appeared in Google during the period.
- Sitemap URLs: URLs submitted in your XML sitemaps, as Google reports them.
- Pages in Search: pages shown in Google results at least once in the period.
- Not in Search: sitemap URLs that Google didn’t show in the period.
- Index Rate: pages in search divided by submitted sitemap URLs.
Google doesn’t publish an index count through its API, so a page counts as in search once it’s shown at least once. The sitemap table lists each sitemap’s path, type, last submitted date, submitted URLs, errors and warnings.
Check URLs with URL Inspection
Section titled “Check URLs with URL Inspection”- On Indexing, go to URL Inspection — Check Indexing Status.
- Pick a sitemap, then pick how many URLs to check (Up to a set number).
- Start the check. You can stop it while it runs. Each URL shows Indexed or Not indexed, Google’s reason and the last crawl date.
Every URL you inspect counts against Google’s limit of 2,000 inspections per property per day. If you hit it, you see “Google’s daily URL Inspection quota for this property is used up. Try again tomorrow.”
Mobile
Section titled “Mobile”Clicks, impressions, CTR and position split by device (desktop, mobile, tablet). A much worse mobile CTR or position usually means a slow or awkward mobile page.
Web Vitals
Section titled “Web Vitals”Web Vitals runs Google PageSpeed Insights on your pages with the most clicks, on mobile or desktop.
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): loading. Good: under 2.5 s.
- Interaction to Next Paint (INP): interactivity. Good: under 200 ms.
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): visual stability. Good: under 0.1.
Each page shows Real visitors data (Chrome users, last 28 days) when Google has enough visits, or a Lab test otherwise. Each page takes 10 to 30 seconds to measure. Results are kept for a day. Click Open in PageSpeed Insights for the full Google report.
