Fix publishing problems
When a publish has a problem, Studio shows a message in the publish window and a banner at the top of the site editor, so you see it even after you close the window. Find your message below.
Before you publish
Section titled “Before you publish”“This site hasn’t been built yet. Build it first, then publish.” Build the site first. Continue stays greyed out until it is built.
“Your Xagio subscription isn’t active, so hosting can’t be set up right now.” Publishing needs an active paid Xagio plan. Check or renew it in Plans & Billing in the Xagio panel.
“Your account doesn’t have a hosting allowance available right now.” Your xRenew (monthly) balance is 0. Hosting is billed in Xags, so publishing needs an xRenew balance above 0; xBanks alone don’t count for this check. Wait for your next monthly xRenew, or move to a plan that includes it. See How Xags work.
“We couldn’t check your hosting account just now. You can still continue.” Studio couldn’t reach your account to check these rules. You can go ahead; the check runs again when you publish.
Domain messages: “Enter a full domain name including the extension, for example acme.com.”, “Enter a domain name rather than an IP address.”, “Enter the domain without a port number…”, “That is not a valid domain name…”
Type only the domain, like example.com: no https://, no www, no path.
When you click Publish
Section titled “When you click Publish”“You don’t have enough XAGs. Required: …, Available: …” Your balance doesn’t cover the first month of hosting. Add Xags, then publish again. See Buying more Xags.
“We could not start publishing. Please try again.” Try again. If it repeats, contact support.
While you wait for DNS
Section titled “While you wait for DNS”“Waiting for your nameservers” / “Waiting for your domain” for a long time Your domain doesn’t point at Xagio yet. Check that the nameservers or A records at your registrar match exactly, then click Check again. See Point your domain: DNS steps.
“Still waiting for your domain” (banner) or “This has taken longer than expected…” Studio checked for 3 days and stopped checking automatically. Fix the records at your registrar, then click Check again. Nothing is broken.
“Your domain needs a quick DNS step” (banner) or “We couldn’t set up DNS automatically.” Studio couldn’t create the DNS zone. The message gives the reason. Click Fix DNS or Change how DNS is set up and choose another DNS option, or add the records shown at your registrar.
After DNS
Section titled “After DNS”“Setting up the secure connection” for a long time HTTPS can take a while after the domain points to Xagio. It finishes on its own; there is nothing to do. The Visit Site button appears once HTTPS works.
“Publishing stopped” Something went wrong on the hosting side. The message under it gives the reason. Your site content is safe. Click See details, then publish again.
“This site needs re-publishing” or “The hosting for this site no longer exists…” The hosting behind this site was removed (for example, terminated in the panel). Click Re-publish to set it up again. Your content is safe.
“We’re looking into this publish” Studio had trouble checking on this publish and the Xagio team has been alerted. Your content is safe; no action is needed. Click View status to see the latest.
“We couldn’t confirm the current state.” Your site may still be publishing. Wait a moment and click Check again before trying anything else.
My site is live but shows the old version
Section titled “My site is live but shows the old version”Refresh the page in your browser (Ctrl+R, or Cmd+R on a Mac). Your browser may be showing a saved copy. If your edits still don’t show, check that you published them: the editor shows PUBLISH CHANGES while edits are unpublished. See Publish changes to a live site.
I can’t open Studio, or Publish is missing
Section titled “I can’t open Studio, or Publish is missing”- If Studio doesn’t open, sign in to the Xagio panel first, then go to studio.xagio.net again. See Sign in to Studio.
- Publish shows in the top bar only when there is something to publish: a site that isn’t live yet, or a live site with unpublished edits.
