The Overview report

Overview shows how your whole site does in Google Search for the period you pick. It’s the first report you see when you open a site.

  • Clicks: clicks from Google Search to your site.
  • Impressions: how often your pages appeared in search results.
  • Avg CTR: clicks divided by impressions.
  • Avg position: average ranking position across queries.

Below the totals:

  • A chart of clicks and impressions per day (per week for periods longer than about four months).
  • Where to look next: cards that point to reports with something to act on, such as quick wins, low CTR pages, decaying pages, lost keywords, rising searches and cannibalized searches.
  • A table of keyword and page pairs.

Tables list the top 2,000 rows. The totals above count all rows.

  1. Look at the chart first. A dip in clicks with steady impressions points to a CTR problem. A dip in both points to a ranking or demand problem.
  2. Turn on compare to see whether this period is better or worse than the last.
  3. Follow the Where to look next cards.

Every report has a How to use this report guide under its title.
