Clustering, seeding and the AI Wizard

A raw keyword list becomes useful once related keywords sit in the same group, with one group per page. The AI Wizard builds a project from your competitors’ keywords and clusters it for you. Project Planner then has four tools to reshape the groups. Phrase-match clustering, seeding and consolidation are free. The AI Wizard and AI clustering spend Xags.

Build a project with the AI Wizard

The AI Wizard finds the top 10 Google results for your niche, audits the sites you pick, and clusters their ranking keywords into a new project. Pick the type that fits your site:

Global: sites that do not target local areas, such as affiliate, eCommerce, news and blog sites.
Local: sites that target a geographic area, such as lead gen, rank and rent, and client SEO sites.

Before you start:

Your site must be connected to your Xagio account.
You need enough Xags for each website you select. See What it costs.
Set the default AI Wizard search engine and location in Location settings if you use the same ones each time.

Run the Global wizard

Go to Xagio > Project Planner and select AI Wizard.
Under Global, select GET STARTED.
Main Niche: enter the main niche of your site, for example “weight loss” or “dedicated hosting”. Keep it under 80 characters.
Site Type: enter the type of site you are building, for example “review” or “bonus”. Choose the Search Engine.
Check the combined keyword. Use the swap button to change the word order, then select Search.
From the top 10 results, select the websites that most closely match what you want to build. Select All Recommended picks the suggested ones.
Optional settings:
- Filter results to only contain keyword below: keeps only keywords containing that word. For Global, the first word of your niche is filled in.
- Location: the Google location for the audit.
- Find ranking keywords from Page URL only: pulls keywords for that exact page instead of the whole domain.
Check “This action will cost you …”, then select Finish.

Xagio audits each selected site, merges the results into one project when you picked more than one, and clusters the keywords. The project opens when it is done.

Run the Local wizard

Go to Xagio > Project Planner and select AI Wizard.
Under Local, select GET STARTED.
Location: enter the city your business is in, for example “austin”. You can leave it empty, but adding a city is recommended.
Services: enter a keyword that best describes your business, for example “pool cleaning”. Choose the Search Engine.
Check the combined keyword (“Seed Keyword for your website is:”). Use the swap button to change the word order, then select Search.
Select the websites that most closely match what you want to build. Select All Recommended picks the suggested ones.
Optional settings: Filter results to only contain keyword below, Location and Find ranking keywords from Page URL only, as in the Global wizard.
Check “This action will cost you …”, then select Finish.

The new project opens when the audit and clustering finish.

Cluster keywords by phrase match

Groups keywords that share words.

Open the project in Xagio > Project Planner.
Select Keywords > Cluster Keywords (or Cluster Keywords in a group’s Actions menu to cluster only that group).
In Clustering, set:
- Minimum Word Matches: how many words a group name must share with its keywords (default 2).
- Minimum Cluster Size: the smallest number of keywords a new group can have (default 2).
- Ignore Words Before Matching: words to leave out of group names, separated by commas. The three most common words are suggested.
- Prepositions: include or leave out words such as for, and, or, of, in, the.
Under Select Keywords to Cluster, pick keywords or select Select All.
Select Preview Cluster to see the result first.
Optional: tick Cluster into a new project? and enter a project name to keep the original project unchanged.
Select Cluster Keywords.

Cluster keywords with AI

AI clustering groups keywords by meaning, so “plumber near me” and “local plumbing company” can land together. The same AI Clustering button is in the group step of Agent X (see AI clustering in Agent X).

Open the project. To cluster only some groups, tick them first. With none ticked, every keyword in the project is used.
Select AI Clustering in the project toolbar.
In Requesting AI Input, check Average XAGS cost for this is and Your remaining XAGS are.
Select Continue. “Clustering groups…” shows while it runs. When it finishes you see “AI clustering finished – reloading…”.

If the job takes longer than five minutes, you see “AI clustering is still running; please try again later.” Reload the project later to see the result.

Seed keywords into a new group

Seeding moves every keyword that contains a phrase into a new group.

Select Keywords > Seed Keywords.
Enter the New Group name. If you leave it empty, the group is named after the first seed keyword.
In Your seed keywords, enter one or more phrases separated by commas.
Choose the match type with the toggle: Broad Match (cat matches cats, catapult, wildcat) or Phrase Match (cat only as a whole word).
Use Add Multiple Groups to seed several groups at once.
Select Seed New Group.

You can also seed from the keyword cloud.

Consolidate keywords into one group

Moves every keyword in the project into one new group.

Select Keywords > Consolidate Keywords.
Enter a new group name.
Tick Remove empty groups? to delete the groups left behind.
Select Consolidate.

To combine several competitor projects into one, run the AI Wizard with more than one website selected. It merges the audited projects into one project and clusters it.

What it costs

AI Wizard: 1 Xag for each website you select.
Phrase-match clustering, seeding and consolidating: free.
AI clustering: 0.02 Xags per 1,000 tokens, multiplied by the prompt’s price factor. The average price shows before you run it.

Troubleshooting

“Please enter any keyword that best describes your business”: the keyword field is empty.
“Keyword phrase must be lower then 80 characters long”: shorten the keyword.
“Please select at least one website in table above”: tick at least one result.
“You do not have enough XAGS to perform this operation!”: select fewer websites or add Xags.
“No keywords found for any of selected websites.”: none of the sites had ranking data. Pick different sites or turn off the keyword filter.
“Please add some keywords first before trying to Cluster!”: the project has no keywords.
“You do not have enough AI Credits, please top up and try again!”: your Xag balance is below the average price. Add Xags.
Upgrade your Account (“You’ll need to upgrade your account in order to use AI features!”): your plan does not include AI features. Select Upgrade Now!.
