Use your own Cloudflare account
By default, a domain you add to Xagio Hosting with Add to Cloudflare is placed in Xagio’s Cloudflare account. If you want the DNS zone in your own Cloudflare account, save a Cloudflare API token in the panel. You then pick which account to use each time you add a domain.
Sites on your own dedicated server must use your own Cloudflare account.
Create the API token in Cloudflare
Section titled “Create the API token in Cloudflare”-
In Cloudflare, go to My Profile > API Tokens > Create Token > Custom token (dash.cloudflare.com/profile/api-tokens).
-
Add these five permissions:
Permission Used for Zone · DNS · Edit The DNS manager and the records set up when a domain is added Zone · Zone · Edit Creating the zone, and removing it if you terminate the site Zone · Zone Settings · Edit Always Use HTTPS and Development Mode Zone · Cache Purge · Purge Purging the cache Zone · SSL and Certificates · Edit The SSL mode -
Under Account Resources, include the Cloudflare account you want zones created under.
-
Under Zone Resources, choose All zones from an account and pick the same account.
-
Create the token and copy it.
The pre-made Edit zone DNS template is not enough on its own.
Save the token in Xagio
Section titled “Save the token in Xagio”- Open Hosting in the sidebar.
- Open Manage and choose Cloudflare Account (“Push domains to your own Cloudflare”).
- Paste the token into Cloudflare API token.
- Click Verify & Save.
You see “Cloudflare token saved.” Your token is stored on your account and used only for actions you trigger from the panel.
Use it for a new site
Section titled “Use it for a new site”In the setup wizard, choose Add to Cloudflare, then My Cloudflare account. See Host a website with Xagio.
Remove the token
Section titled “Remove the token”Open Cloudflare Account and click Remove. Existing domains keep working, but the panel can no longer manage their DNS, SSL or cache, and new domains go back to the Xagio account.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- “Invalid token: …” The token is wrong or missing a permission. Check all five permissions and the account and zone resources.
- “You have not saved a personal Cloudflare API token. Please add one in your Cloudflare account settings or choose the Xagio account.” Save a token first, or pick Xagio’s Cloudflare account.
- “This domain is managed under your own Cloudflare account, but no Cloudflare API token is connected. Reconnect your token in Cloudflare Settings to manage DNS.” You removed the token. Save it again to manage that domain.
- DNS actions fail with an authentication error: the token is missing Zone · DNS · Edit.
