Publish your site to Xagio hosting
Publishing puts your Studio site on Xagio hosting at a domain you own. Studio sets up the hosting, helps you point your domain, moves the site onto the server and turns on HTTPS. You can close the window at any point; publishing carries on in the background.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A built site. The site must be built (or partly built) before you can publish it.
- A domain you own. You need access to the domain at your registrar (where you bought it), or in your own Cloudflare account.
- An active paid Xagio subscription. Without one, Studio shows “Your Xagio subscription isn’t active, so hosting can’t be set up right now.”
- An xRenew balance above 0. Hosting is billed in Xags, so publishing checks that your plan’s monthly xRenew balance is above 0. If it is 0, Studio shows “Your account doesn’t have a hosting allowance available right now.” xBanks alone are not enough for this check.
- Enough Xags for the first month of hosting, charged when you publish.
Publish your site
Section titled “Publish your site”- Open your site in the editor and click Publish in the top bar.
- Under Which domain should this site live on?, type your domain, for example
example.com. Enter only the domain: nohttps://and nowww. If you paste a full address, Studio shows the domain it will use. Click Continue. - Structured data. Studio generates structured data (schema) for your pages at publish, using your domain. Pages that already have it are included free. For pages that don’t, you see the number of pages and an estimate, and you can untick Generate structured data for the remaining pages to skip it. Click Continue.
- Server. If your account has more than one server, choose which one hosts the site: Xagio cloud or Your dedicated server. Sites on a dedicated server must use your own Cloudflare account for DNS. If you have only one server, this step is skipped.
- How should we handle DNS? Pick one:
- Set it up for me: Xagio creates the DNS in its Cloudflare account and gives you two nameservers to enter at your registrar.
- Use my own Cloudflare account: for a domain you already manage in Cloudflare. Studio creates the zone there with your API token. Click Add token first. See Publish with your own Cloudflare account.
- I’ll do it myself: Studio shows the exact records to add at your registrar.
- Check the summary (Website, Domain, DNS) and click Publish.
If the domain already has a different site on your hosting, Studio warns you and the button reads Replace and publish. The existing files are moved aside, not deleted.
Follow the progress
Section titled “Follow the progress”The publish window shows each stage:
- Setting up your hosting, then Hosting ready.
- Waiting for your nameservers or Waiting for your domain: Studio shows the nameservers or records to enter at your registrar. Your site goes live by itself once the domain points to Xagio. This usually takes under an hour and can take up to 48 hours. Click Check again to check now. See Point your domain: DNS steps.
- Your domain points here, then Moving your site while the pages upload (usually a couple of minutes).
- Setting up the secure connection, then Secure connection ready once HTTPS works. This finishes on its own.
When every stage is done, Your site is live shows a Visit Site button.
Studio waits for your domain before it moves the site and sets up HTTPS. This is why nothing appears on your domain until DNS is in place.
Track your rankings
Section titled “Track your rankings”When the site goes live, the window moves to Final Step: and offers to track your keywords in Rank Tracker. Click Start Tracking, or Skip to do it later. See Track rankings for a Studio site.
After publishing
Section titled “After publishing”- The editor shows Live Site (opens your domain) and Track Rankings or View Rankings.
- Your project shows a Published badge in your projects list.
- In the Xagio panel, the site appears in Websites with the CMS Studio, and in Hosting. See Your Studio site in the Xagio panel.
- When the site is live, Studio offers to Archive the project to free a project slot. The live site stays up.
What it costs
Section titled “What it costs”- Structured data: charged per page, only for pages that don’t have it yet.
- Hosting: the first month is charged in Xags when you publish, at your plan’s hosting price: 3 Xags per site per month on Xagio One, 3 on AI, Freedom or Cloud Lite, 4 on Pro, 5 on Agency, 5 on Digital Lease Assets, and 10 on any other plan. After that, hosting bills monthly like any hosted site. See Hosting prices and billing.
- Republishing changes to a site that is already paid for has no hosting charge.
