Global defaults: rank frequency, depth and indexation checks

Global Settings sets defaults for your whole account: the search engine, language and location for new Project Planner projects, how often and how deep Rank Tracker checks, and how often Xagio checks whether your sites are indexed in Google. Rank frequency and indexation changes apply to all your existing sites as well.

Open Global Settings

Open the account menu, select Settings, then select the Global Settings tab.

Project Planner defaults

These are the defaults for new projects. They save as soon as you change them.

Search Engines: one or more search engines for data lookups.
Language: the language for keyword data.
Country: the country for keyword data.
Location: a city or region inside that country, if you need local data.

Rank Tracking & Indexation

Rank Check Frequency

Sets how often Rank Tracker checks your keywords, from every 1 day to every 15 days.

Enter a number of days in Rank Check Frequency (1 to 15).
Confirm the change.

This changes the tracking frequency for every site and keyword you track in Rank Tracker, not only new ones.

Default Depth

Sets how many pages of search results Rank Tracker reads, from 1 Page Depth (top 10) to 5 pages (top 50).

Choose a depth in Default Depth.
Confirm the change.

The confirmation mentions all your sites, but today this setting does not change sites you already track. It is used for keywords that have no depth of their own. To change the depth of a site you already track, set it on that site in Rank Tracker. See Tracking period, depth, engine and location.

Indexation Check

Sets how often Xagio checks whether Google has indexed your sites: Every 24 hours or Every 48 hours. This changes the schedule for all your websites.

What it costs

Changing these settings is free, but they change how many paid checks run each month:

Each rank check costs 0.003 Xags per keyword at any depth. Checking every day costs about 0.09 Xags per keyword per month. Checking every 7 days costs about a seventh of that.
Each indexation check costs 0.01 Xags: about 0.30 Xags per site per month on a 24-hour schedule, or 0.15 on a 48-hour schedule.

Troubleshooting

“Tracking period cannot be empty!” Enter a number of days before you confirm.
“Something went wrong!” after changing the frequency: the value must be a whole number from 1 to 15.
