Your first hour: from niche to a live, tracked site
This page walks you through a typical first project in Xagio, from finding a niche to watching a live site’s traffic. Each step is short and links to the full article. You can stop after any step and come back later.
Start from the Overview checklist
Section titled “Start from the Overview checklist”When you sign in, the Overview page shows a Get started checklist with four steps: Find a niche, Build a site, Put it live and Track your rankings. Each step has a button that opens the right tool, and it ticks itself off once you have done it. The steps below follow the same path.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A Xagio account. See Create your Xagio account.
- Xags for research and tracking. Every plan adds Xags each month. See How Xags work.
- A paid plan if you want to host the site with Xagio. Free accounts can see Hosting, but cannot deploy a site.
Step 1: Find a niche
Section titled “Step 1: Find a niche”In the Cloud App, open Niche hunter and search for a seed keyword in your market. Xagio returns up to 1,000 related keywords with search volume, CPC and competition.
A hunt costs 1.5 Xags, and you are not charged if no data comes back.
See Niche Hunter: find a niche.
Step 2: Plan your keywords
Section titled “Step 2: Plan your keywords”Select the keywords you want and copy them into Project planner with Copy To Project. In Project Planner, sort them into groups. Each group becomes one page on your site. Add search volume, CPC and competition data to decide which pages to build first.
See Copy keywords to Project Planner, Project Planner overview and Get search volume, CPC and competition data.
Step 3: Build the site
Section titled “Step 3: Build the site”Choose the way that fits your plan:
- Xagio Studio. Studio builds the whole site with AI from a service and a location, or from a Project Planner export. See Start a new project and Import a Project Planner CSV.
- WordPress with the Xagio plugin. Install WordPress, add the Xagio plugin and connect it. Then turn your keyword groups into pages, or let Agent X build pages from a keyword. See Install and connect the Xagio plugin, Create pages and posts from keyword groups and Agent X: build a site from a keyword.
Step 4: Host it
Section titled “Step 4: Host it”- Studio site: publish it from Studio. Studio sets up the hosting, the domain and HTTPS for you. See Publish your site to Xagio hosting.
- WordPress site: in the Cloud App, open Hosting and select Add Instance. The wizard sets up the domain, DNS, WordPress and SSL. See Host a website with Xagio.
On Xagio One plans, hosting costs 3 Xags per site per month. Other plans pay 3 to 10 Xags per site per month. The first month is charged when the site goes live, then monthly after that. See Hosting prices and monthly billing.
Step 5: Track your rankings
Section titled “Step 5: Track your rankings”In the Cloud App, open Rank tracker, add your site, and add the keywords you want to rank for. Studio can also send its planned keywords to Rank Tracker when you publish.
Adding a keyword costs 0.03 Xags per keyword per search engine. Each rank check costs 0.003 Xags, about 0.09 Xags per keyword per month with daily checks.
See Add and remove tracked keywords.
Step 6: Watch it in GSC Analysis
Section titled “Step 6: Watch it in GSC Analysis”Once your site is verified in Google Search Console, open GSC Analysis at gsc.xagio.net. Select Sign in with Xagio, connect your Google Search Console data, choose your site, and read the Overview report for clicks, impressions and position. The opportunity reports show keywords close to page one. GSC Analysis doesn’t spend Xags.
See Sign in and connect Google Search Console, Choose a site and Find opportunities.
Check what you spent
Section titled “Check what you spent”Open the account menu and select Credits & Usage to see each charge and an estimate of your monthly automatic spend. See Credits & Usage.
